Crescent Public School, was established under the aegis of Islamic Welfare Society in the year 1999 at Wimberly Gunj, South Andaman. The long cherished desire to set up an educational institution in the rural milieu offering affordable and quality education to the children deprived of modern facilities came true with the establishment of the school by a group of spirited villagers. The founders believed that Education, as a planned endeavour, aims at making children capable of becoming active, responsible, productive and caring members of the society.

The school had a strength of 60 students in the first academic session in 1999. At present there are 485 students on roll including the students of the kindergarten. The untiring efforts of the school management did yield results. After 10 years of its establishment, in 2011, the school was granted affiliation by CBSE to start secondary classes. The school has applied for upgradation to Senior Secondary from next session and all infrastructural requirements have been fulfilled.
